Sharp LC-37X20E - Various.
« on: December 17, 2015,09:22:02 »
Hi folks,

Have one in where it scans for DVB but finds nothing. With Scart input picture is OK but no sound although OSG moves.

Did a reset - No difference - Any thoughts, thanks - Chris.

Hi Chris,

I don't pretend to be an aficionado on Sharps, but a couple of thoughts.

Reset? was that done in the user menu or the service menu. The latter is probably more effective and is called Industry Initialisation.

Sound? there is a Speaker on/off in the Public Mode of the user menu. Perchance it's switched off.

Hi Bruce, and thanks,

Must have got the Scart lead in upside down as next time I tried, sound a'plenty. Off to find a service manual. Note main boards come as a pair, plenty of tuner boards on Ebay but none of the other with the HDMI sockets. Did the Industry Initialisation - no difference, so it's a toss up whether 'Terminal Unit' or 'Main Unit' is duff. Don't know the history of the set, but guess with a mild lightning flash, it's probably the panel with the aerial socket - Chris.

Later - Downloaded latest Firmware update from Sharp, just in case - Made no difference, but was fun trying. Got 53Mb of service manual from ElektroTanya so won't try upload.

Mentioned 'Cash' to customer, and as most want change from a fiver for a simple job - Declined.

Guess it's one more on the heap - Guess eventually sort as it's a decent 'Non Vestel' set.

Hi Chris,

Must be a lot of people in your neck of the woods with deep pockets and short arms, if you get my drift. Or is it a UK thing. Might explain why so many of you got transported to Botany Bay.

Hi Bruce,

Guess it's because new sets are so cheap in the UK,

Repair bits from China are mostly post free, where stuff from USA - Post costs are twice the cost of the bit.

Not sure I understand the difference as guess the same planes fly here and there.

Guess Botany Bay maybe a Sheep stealing issue though gather folks also got transported for minor crimes of the time.

Gather such crimes are mostly now thought cool by modern advanced Jesus freaks.

As a Humanist - Can't say a word, as local faith folks are revising the faith - Again

Guess Cool, but suspect faiths a problem.

Even Non Faith folks slug it out as Power seems the biz.

Seems daft, as personal expiry seems inevitable

Must try sort a few more LED tellies though - Total fun - Chris.

Got the board with the aerial socket, but still no channels.

Guess the other board - Nothing on Ebay yet.

Guess the biz for the issue but getting expensive - Chris.
