minor scratches on lcd screens

Hopefully this will help a lot of people.Please try it and post what you think,the more posts the more chance it stays on page one.Hopefully helping everyone.Right we all know how those small scratches stand out when lcd tvs are off.Well have read some whacky solutions.But stumbled on this by accident.Try putting a small amount of wd40 on a cloth and gently rubbing your scatch.Then clean scean as per normal,I was shocked at the differance.Hopefully you will be too.  Dont forget to post.

Hi Gartons,

Tried first with 'Brasso' then with cling film then adhesive plastic film they use on books then clear PCB spray from RS.

Im going to give the good old WD40 spray ago too...I have found Wilko's Glass did the trick quite well for me too

Would give anything a try that gets rid of marks off the screen...I have done it before where you use Mr Sheen looks great in certain light...move the tv, catch different light and it looks like you have had your dinner off the screen...I found window cleaner does a great job but if the good old WD40 works better then Im all for a trial..Certainly takes a brave man to get the brasso out...find that works best on scratched cd's/dvds

one of the instructors at a LG course advised a soft cloth medium pressure and a little spot of meths, have also found its fantastic for cleaning up trims/cases when your trying to make mutton look like lamb for a wee quick sale !

make sure your not smoking with meths about
otherwise no need to worry about screen

Never tried meths,but wd40 good for removing,most marks on plastic cabs.Also any gluey residue.ie,from stickers ect.removes ball point pen marks aqnd felt tip also.

dont claim to be a chemist but I image it'll be the solvents in WD 40 used to aid penetration of siezed components that makes it a good cleaner dont you find tho it's got a tendancy to leave a  greasy film over the case plastics?

maybe not meths related,but was once reviving an old wooden casing of a crt set many years ago,with some wood stain.put the cloth down on a plastic cabineted g.e.c set,and was astonished to find the rag with the stain on eat right through the cabinet of the plastic GEC.A few red faces when customer came back i can tell u.

Dont know much about plasma,but check caps on power supply,or failing that get replacement power supply.Hope this helps.

wish it were that easy mate, funny thing is I've got 5v for standby at the psu and yet no standby light? did a good visual inspection on the PSu and must say, even under my blind old mans backlit magnifier I never seen anything sinister !
