LG PDP42V6

Morning all,
re the LG 42v6 and similar, can anyone explain (simply) why, when you have the fault of a screen of vertical coloured lines, disconnecting the bottom drive board produces a picture from the top board.
I know it's a common fault, but It would be nice to know what is actually happening.

Are you quite cool - Local freindly folks are about to go North helpfully with some rather old Turkey bits - Chris  (holding nosewise) but Quuq folks (esp Brian - a veggie) am the biz.

You will have to excuse my friends Chris and Daz, they haven't been the same since they lost their 'special'
helmets that stop them licking the windows on the bus.

I don't know for sure but I suspect that when the lower buffer board fails, the faulty buffer board is corrupting or distorting the Drive waveform, hence when you disconnect the buffer board, you are then removing the corrupting influence and the drive waveform is then 'clean' and you then get a 'clear' picture at the top of the screen.

If any Techno wizards no any different i'm sure they will chip in

Have to admit that although he might just get your name wrong, Our Brain is usually the biz.

For myself, un-plugging the lower drive and getting the upper piccy then fitting a replacement plus recycled Y-Sus was almost biblical in walletness.

Wasn't suggesting running set for extended period without lower drive or replacement Y-sus after new drive board fitted - Seem to recall you guided me through my first LG Y-Sus confinement.

Technician and set still doing well, but Y-Sus buzz would drive me nuts - Chris (LCD)
