Ever ancient and ignorant -  Is 'Firmware' EEprom re-programming stuff, or something rather more turgid - Very curious - Chris.

Sorry, yes you are right, missed that bit!!

I have had the same thing with the 32inch where it was intermittent on the Freeview side, and it turned out to a dodgy plug on one of the plugs that plug into the freeview board.

I had to replace the lead, but you might find its no longer available, could try 'wiggling' to prove it when its in fault??

If it is the lead then try recrimping the connectors in the plug

No-one has admitted knowing the actual maker, or supplied piccies, and as I have neither the 26 or 32 Tosh version listed, don't know whether to have a Beko into the Vestel file, or quite what - Chris.
