supersparks:
hi all i have one of the above sets and it is struggling to boot up from standby, i have been told that is proboably the electrolitic capacitors degrading, i really need to know if this is the case and if so which ones do i replace and how do i make sure i am buying the correct ones as i have no way of knowing the specs of the originals with regards to the ripple current and tolerances etc. the main power board is a EAY34796801 REV1.0. thanks, mick.

obagama:
Hi, The capacitors you need are all forsale at Maplins for 50p if you in the UK,

Just replace with the same ones as they are on the boards or slightly higher voltage (ie 2200uf 10v for 2200uf 16v).

I would recommend changing the following which is next to the connectors to the av board.

C202  which is 2200uf 16v
C210  which is 1000uf 35v
C208  which is 1000uf 35v
C206  which is 2200uf 35v
C221  which is 470uf 25v
C222  which is 470uf 25v
C226  which is 470uf 25v
C215  which is 47uf 50v
C218  which is 2200uf 16v
C217  which is 2200uf 16v

Hope this helps

thanks for the speedy reply, the wife is doing my nut in as she had to watch the x factor in the bedroom.I now know which ones to replace but electronics are not my thing i am an electrician by trade , on the specs for the capacitors it lists differet values of ripple curent what is that all about. thanks, mick.

ozzietech:
Disregard ripple current Mick, only values needed are the uF and voltage. Be aware that if the caps are tightly packed they may use slimline caps which are thinner and taller than standard caps.
