Samsung LE40R88BDX/XEU
« on: February 03, 2012,12:27:22 »
Evening all  ,  :sign0144:    so be gentle  ,

just aquired a samsung LE40R88BDX/XEU

It needed the caps done so i done them and still wouldnt work so found info on google which was linked to this group so ive joined up ...

still wouldnt kick in so i read up about the eeprom problems with this model but there was no way i could solder a wire to leg 5 & 6 on the eeprom - so opted for the shorting it out with a screw driver ,

eventually after 30-40 goes it finally kicked in and now its working - had a bit trouble getting DTV to work but sorted now ,

the problem ive now got is on my source list the only active ones are : TV , Ext 1 , Ext 2 , DTV ...

Not active are : AV , S-Video , Component , Pc , HDMI 1 2 & 3 ...

i adjusted the settings in service mode as per Kilroys link on group but still no joy ...

Any help much appreciated or a copy of settings which are good for this model ...

cheers
Paul

is there any more settings out there that will work with this model ???

also is there 1 of the settings if it is wrong - will stop it detecting an aerial ???

it will be much better if somebody who still have working Samsung R86/87/88 with original eprom will make dump of 24c256 chip and put it here, so no need to make any setting manually and panel working time will show something more realistic and not 00000

Hello serg ,

Thanks for your reply , but i havent got a clue what dumps and panel working time are :(
but im a fast learner - to date ive fixed about 10 plasma/lcd for friends and family ;)
every now and again if i get a decent tv for free i will try and fix it ie : replace caps or board but this 1 ive now got needed eeprom reset and after 30-40 goes reseting it with screwdriver i managed to get it working ...
but some of the settings must be wrong as i hav'nt got all the sources ...
and need to connect a few things to it ,
so if anyone knows which setting to change to activate all the sources would be a great help ...

Thank's Again
Paul

Hi,

It is best to either erase the eeprom or fit a new blank one. Having a good dump will only get the set to start, same as a blank eeprom will, and a good dump is only really good for the set it came from, the adjustments may be different as different screens are used.
There is already a very long thread about this problem and all the info is there.

One important thing, READY should be set to 'ON' not 'OFF' as in the manual. Otherwise DTV doesn't work.

The adjustment manual is attached, be warned, there are over 600 adjustments to check!

Cheer's for the reply Keith ,

If i set my READY to ON - I lose my DTV ... So i've got to leave it set to OFF ...

So before i change every setting again ...
Is there 1 setting anywhere where i can change it to activate atleast the AV source or other Source's ???

ATM Analogue & DTV Picture's are perfect and everything seem's to work Perfect - so it's just the other source's that need activated ...

There must be a setting somewhere to activate / de-activate each source ???

(i've searched other thread's but cant seem to find anything about my problem )

Thank's Again
Paul

You may still have corrupt data on the eeprom, it is best to erase the eeprom. You could try a reset from the service menu.

*****UPDATE*****

Evening All ,

Right i changed all the setting's to the setting's that Keith posted ...

Some of the setting's on the list i didn't have on my Tv ...
And i had some setting's that wer'nt on the list ...
So i changed what i did have ...
( Hope that make's sence )

This is now my source list :

TV              - Active
Ext.1          - Active
Ext.2          - Active

Av              - Not Active
S-Video      - Not Active

Component - Not Active
Pc              -  Active
HDMI 1       - Not Active
HDMI 2       - Not Active
HDMI 3       - Not Active

DTV             -Active

So by changing them i have now ACTIVATED Pc ...

So there must be a couple a setting's still to change that hav'nt been on the setting's i've getting up to now ...

But a BIG THANK'S to the guy's who have posted setting's as im getting there

If i can get atleast the AV working aswell - That will do me as it's for my daughter and she want's DVD connected ( Fussy little 6 yr old lol ... )

So any more setting's for the LE40R88BDX/XEU  chuck them my way and i'll try them

I also tried resetting from service menu ... made no difference ...

Thank's again
Paul ;)

This may be more simple than you thought. If tv is for your girls dvd.I take it you want a scart socket working.Well ext 1 and ext 2 are usually the two scart sockets, not av as you are trying to activate.

Thank's garton's

How stupid am i    :41: .... when i noticed most of the source's were not active i seen the scart's were ext 1(rgb) ext 2 (av) and just thought they wern't active ....
Just tried dvd in ext 1 and it kicked straight in ...
The other's are still not active but dont need them as she only wants it for dvd now ...

A very Happy 6 yr old now has a 40" instead of a 19" on her wall for her Film's ...

A Big Thank you to everyone for the help and Advice in sorting this   :13:
