low.flying.pigs:
For clarification, FIXITNOW is refering to the Alba LCD32880 problems of LEEDASH detailed at:

http://www.tv.quuq.org/forum/index.php?topic=6010.0

If anyone can offer any knowledge that may help to resolve the non responsive remote symptoms on the Alba LCD32ADVD, it would be most appreciated.

fix2003:
have this for model LCD32880HDF  NO REMOTE FUNCTIONS
is there a keylock function on your remote ??

If The key lock is on press menu/enter button on the handset for over
10 seconds and all should be well. This also turns the keylock back on so
don't do it twice! :13:

In_Focus:
With Vestel sets except JVC or some Sharp badged ones as a test you could use a Philips TV remote or any that uses RC5 codes.

You should see some functionality if the IR receiver is OK. If there is no response check for leaky chip capacitors on the IR PCB.

The LED function is correct i.e. on in standby, off in normal operation.

Many thanks FIXITNOW and In_Focus for the suggestions and information. I will look in to this and report back in due course.

Just an update. Tried the suggestions of FIXITNOW regarding a remote lock out feature. The remote has no menu/enter button, so I tried pressing and holding Menu and OK/Select seperately. I also tried both together. All this was done for varying lengths of time over 10 seconds and then trying a volume up or down command immediately afterwards to see if control was restored. Unfortunately these efforts were without success.

I did not have oppertunity to dismatle the set and check the IR PCB on this occasion as suggested by In_Focus. Is that a common failure?

Has anyone else any suggestions?
