Mosfet Alternative, how low do you go?

I have a set with a major S/C which destroyed a 5A fuse in both plug and board, I found two of the FET's S/C'd, the fets that had blown were n-600v 7.5A, just looked for an alternative and it was coming up with n-600v 6.0A, now I dont mind trying the odd lower rating, ie if it was 600v 7A then I may of put a dollar on it being ok, but 1.5 amps do you think that is a little excessive???
