Afternoon guys...just had one off thease set in today..this is my first sharp to look at...when switch on,green light flashes few times and back life comes up for one or two seconds then goes back to red flashing standby light...anyone worked  on this set before.....it's not a vestal

watteau:
Hi,
Had this fault on a 32", not sure if the same applies to the 46",
but it might be worth a check.
'The voltage across the main smoothing capacitor should be about 350V during
Standby and increases to 395V during power on and normal operation,
if it does not change or is low, replace R7832, R7833, and R7834 (511K ΒΌ watt 1%),
located underneath the main smoother capacitor.
They change value (go low) e.g. 496k, 455k etc.'
Try CHS, Part No: MFH510K (510K .6W) for standard, wire ended replacements.

Regards

Hi Chrissie, 2 seconds of backlight then continuous slow flashing of red LED (error code 1) is a backlight error. You should be able to make it operational by accessing the service mode....should be heaps on quuq about it.....and resetting the lamp error count to zero. 5 strikes and you're out on these. You'll still have to locate the reason for the failure or it'll come back to haunt you. Mostly CCFL failure on these.

chrissie jones:
Yes..you where rite oz..all back life ccfl tubes all blackend on ends....thanks for the reply..

Chrissie, backlight is what you mean. They're usually expensive, unless you can pull some from another wrecked set, but precise length and diameter may present challenges. Nice feedback.
Chris la Turnip will be impressed.
