Sony KDL-32EX703 - No signals.
« on: February 12, 2016,11:17:17 »
Hi folks,

Have one that works otherwise normally, but no DVB channels show a picture, and when re-scanned the set finds nothing.

Guess could be a tuner issue but no lightning in this area recently - Any thoughts - Thanks - Chris.

Hi Chris,

Try a factory reset. Can give you details if unsure. If it doesn't restore DVB, the it's plan B.....off to Oil Drum Lane.

Hi Bruce and thanks,

Went to try a 'factory reset' as you suggested but the set came on showing pictures on every channel where yesterday there was now't but the OSG with 'No Signal'

These edge lit Led backlight sets can be curious. Incidentally, cust couldn't get a picture either, so not me - Honest.

SSB 1-881-636-21 so thought try find one on Ebay - None for this model, but have had problems with similar ones where whatever is below the heat sink at the top of the panel tends to be heat sensitive and gives 'Oil Drum Row' issues - Chris.

Hi Folks,

Although set now works normally, thought try 'service mode' where in the manual pressing -

Display/CH5/Vol+/Power on RCU quickly should do the biz - It didn't, but neither the user guide nor manual specify where the 'display' button is on the RCU.

Tried also do a 'factory reset' by holding down the top button on the cursor key ring then pressing S/by button on set - Didn't work either.

Had a bit of luck as some channels were blocked, tried 4 zeros but then read that 9999 clears any customer code, and it did - Win some - Chris.

Hi Chris,

Here's the good oil:
From standby press Display (Info) > 5 > Vol+ > Power. If necessary, press Option or Jump to get into digital mode.
Press 8.....SVCE changes to green RST.
Press Mute...RST EXE command is displayed.
Press 0....EXE RST displays green EXE, then red indicating TV is writing data.
When complete, the green SVCE text displays.
Cycle the AC power. Done. See how it behaves after that.

Hi Bruce,

Original RCU doesn't seem to have a dedicated 'Display/Info' button, nearest seems to be
(I+) with a green ? mark at the side, that I assumed to be 'Display'

Doesn't do the job though.

Thought check out Ebay for a piccy but can find no original RM-ED035 RCU, and replacements don't seem to have a 'Display' button mentioned in both the user guide and manual.

Vestel for me, as Vestel RCUs are mostly all the same, even original manufacturer's dedicated RCU codes seem to change to Philips RC5 code in a trice.

Can't be bad, simplicity is us- Chris.

Hi Chris,

that's wright, the 'i+' button works as 'display';the trick is to repeat the sequence until the service menu is displayed;so you

have to put again the tv in 'stand-by' then 'i+'  '5' 'vol+' 'stand-by' and so  on .it's a little bit upsetting, but at the end the

tv turns on in'servce mode'.

Another way to execute a factory reset:

Press and hold the ^ arrow on the remote and the power button on the TV control panel....while the TV is ON.

It will shut down and restart in the installation mode....this may take a few minutes.

Hi Bruce and Mike,

Tried that (as mentioned before) but now't happened. Cust has now collected the set but expect it back shortly as Sony SSBs are becoming a bit of a problem.

Would have sorted a replacement on Ebay but they didn't have any for some reason.

Mention as have another Sony SSB issue where can't suss the panel as Sony printed nothing on it to give a clue, and all printed board tickets seem to mean nothing at all.

Think attach - Screen ticket – 6572VZ1F0112302C46BW03

Board ticket – 5562V01F11G11521820J02D

Means nothing to me or Ebay - Chris.

Alas, the cryptic Sony part number raises its ugly head again. Guess if you can't get it into service mode, the Balancer (Main/SSB) board must be r/s.

Thanks Bruce,

Just read Mike's thoughts where seems you have to go through the biz enough times to get the set's attention - Will remember when it comes back, as it will - It's a Sony - Chris.

Set came back today with original no signal issue, so guess need  SSB   1-881-636-21

It's the one with the aluminium heat sink near the top of the board, where heating and cooling provokes it to either work or not. Guess there's a horrid 'ball gate' thingy underneath.

Got another Sony - KDL-32BX320 where I can't discover the SSB part number as it has Now't printed on it, and can't yet source a manual.

Hi Chris,

Ah, the old ball joint problem.....thought cars had ball joints. What are you doing to all these poor Sony TVs?

KDL-32BX300 almanac attached, but bear in mind that as it's for the oceania region, part numbers will probably differ to your local ones.

Might to time to consult the oracle.

Hi Bruce and thanks,

Recall you had a way of sorting 'Ball Gate Arrays' by shoving the boards into the wife's oven at 180C 'till tender.

Guess with Lead free, could be a tad higher - Maybe one for the Barbie - Chris

PS - Do you have anything on the KDL-32X320 ? - Used to like Sony, long way back.

Sorry, Chris,

No can do the KDL-32X320. Seems to be a rare beast.

Don't think that roasting the main boards actually does a reflow because the temp. wouldn't be high enough to achieve this.

Seems to work only on LG boards, so what's LG doing that others aren't . One of the mysteries of life.

Guess it's for deep thinkers such as yourself.

Hi Bruce and thanks,

There's usually heaps of other stuff on Ebay, so can mostly sort something.

Sony however is a little different, as it's a name where most folks buy the same screen size an awful lot cheaper.

Folks who think Sony the biz have to suffer their crap SSBs where there's little salvaged as they're mostly duff before a screen smash - Chris.
