Vistron 37 No model number stuck in standby
« on: August 05, 2011,16:42:58 »
Hi I have a problem with a Vistron 37" TV sorry there are no model numbers, but I need hel with what seems to be a usual fault.
The tv turns on to the blue standby light and nothing more, I have checked all the voltages from the PSU and all seem very good and on the button.

I keep coming across the main board having problems with the firmware having a mad fit, but I cannot find anywhere to sort the problem, has anyone had the same problems with this set, I believe it is the same with the 32 inch Vistron too.

The board I seem to be having problems with is HH.LCD-PCB.Y0-105 if that helps

Thanks for any help you can give on this one.

Hi S/D,

There's some back threads mentioning PS caps - a couple of 1000/10 and a 470/16 but no maker identified.

Pics are useful if you can't identify model or panel info - Chris.

Hi

Cheers Chris, all the caps are fine, all the voltages are all fine I am going down the same route as mulja, eeprom issues, the trouble is now is I cannot get any numbers off the back of the eeprom so I am struggling a little with this "Turkish Delight"  :41:

Hi Guys
 Sorry to intrude in discussion  but Having similar probs with my Vistron 37 inch-
suspect the same signals mainboard as mentioned (psu seems OK)
Can u mention the board ref of the eprom so can also try and identify it- will be U--- something
BTHW There is a supplier of blank /ready to burn eeproms on ebay (usually 16 pins ) although advert is  for laptops eproms -generically same chips and programming (?)

Thinking of reprogramming the identified  Vistron eprom   using a Samsung eprom chip dump (ie or another suitable .bin file)for 37 inch model via  the  TV 's serial interface port connected to  my laptop.
This is way I believe most corrupt eproms are corrected by TV Techs very  tricky but doable with patience
 otherwise swopping in proven Tv  eproms might be a solution  ?

Ur Info and comments  would be welcome  Cheers Les

Hi Again

In the second picture could someone please tell me what the 4 pin blue connector is for, its location is down in the bottom left hand corner just above the VGA socket.

Could I also ask where you think the eeprom is on this thing, I thought it was either the chip just right/up of the small heat sink centre of the board or the one bottom left of the heatsink.

Any help or guesstimates would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
Sorry, don't recognise the board, but the blue socket is probably for programming,
as for the EEPROM, I would also probably go for the IC near the top-right of the main IC
(the one with the heat sink).
Check the voltages on pins 5, and 6 of this IC (the data lines), and if they are the same
(about 2v), you could try a reset, similar to the SAMSUNG (keep these pins short
while switching on, and release) - if these these voltages are different, the IC is
probably one of the versions that use write protection, and this method won't work,
Good Luck,
John.

Hi

Thanks, I got the data of the chip and this is the pins, I have also put the readings I got from each pin

1=CS# = 3.27v
2=DO = 3.27v
3=WP# =0.0v
4=VSS = 0.0v
5=DI = 0.0v
6=CLK = 3.27v
7=HOLD# = 2.46v
8=VCC = 3.27v

Like you mentioned shorting the pins 5&6, doesnt do anything
What is the options now as you mentioned something about write protect, (Pin 3)

Is there away around this or do I now need equipment to reset the eeprom.

With thanks

Hi,
Sorry I don't know of a way of resetting these type of EEPROMs.
You could try changing it with a blank one, if  you know the type.
Good luck,
John.
